I have it on very good authority that you only have one more week to get into Te Papa to the Enriching Fashion exhibition if you want to see this wonderful embroidered waistcoat (click the link for all the details). Made in France in around 1780, it is well worth the trip in to see this item alone.
Next week it will be taken off exhibition, along with another six items from Enriching Fashion, to be rested for at least 5 years, so it can recover from the pressure imposed by the last 6 months of public exposure.Sometimes I feel like it would be nice to rest for a while - although maybe not that long!
